Cool Edit Pro 2000: Arranging Tracks

Okay, I've searched high and low through the software and I'm pretty familiar with most of it, but for the life of me, I cannot find out how you arrange ENTIRE tracks...i.e. how do you take track 7 and make it to be track 2 by moving them up or down in the list without having to go in and actually selecting every one of the waves within the tracks and copying and pasting. It just doesn't make sense to me to NOT have this function and maybe I am the idiot, but...HELP!!!

Right clicking and dragging the clip doesn't work?

Well, I know how to drag and drop clips WITHIN the track itself. I want to know how to move the entire track with the clips in it...re-arrangment.

I misunderstood. I looked thru the Help files for CEP 2.0 and couldn't find anything on how to do that. Hmmm. It would be a nice feature.

Maybe someone else knows the secret trick.

Well, thank you for diggin' in about it. I'll have to figure out a "work around".

Nope, that is not possible without doing the copy paste bit. That was not a high end program and they didn't have the ability to add that kind of functionality to the program back then. It was meant as a simple recording tool with a few extra bells and whistles.

There are actually only a couple of programs out there that can do that kind of thing. Most are the upper level applications like Sonar, Pro Tools, Nuendo, not sure about Cubase or Logic.

If I remember correctly I'm pretty sure CEP 2.1 you could move tracks, though the track #'s stayed the same you couldn't change them, don't know if CEP 2.0 had the capability or not. It's been years since I used CEP so I don't remember how exactly you moved them, but probably placing the cursor somewhere on the track header and dragging when the cursor changes to the move cursor.

Edit: Just did a little investigating, CEP 2.1 added the ability to move tracks but right clicking on any of the tracks controls and then dragging, so you're out of luck with 2.0

Audition supports it also, you just grab the track near the controls and drag it around. I do this with busses mainly as I like to sit them next to their source tracks.
