How do I delete memory card recorded files from my Cubase LE?

disclaimer: i'm not a musician - i just started writing and recording music for fun and am learning as i go along.

i'm using the Zoom H4 recorder with Cubase LE. Up until today, I recorded on the H4 and then transferred files from memory card to computer. today, i learned how to record directly onto my computer by using the H4 as an audio interface, so i know how to delete files that i've recorded directly onto my pc, BUT i can't seem to delete the memory card files on my computer. if i delete them from my computer, Cubase tells me the files are missing and the "Empty Trash" in the Pool is greyed out. Anybody know how can I delete the memory card files from my Cubase? Thanks!

I'll take a look at the pdf of the manual and get back to you, if someone else hasn't gotten you an answer yet.

Welcome to HRC by the way.

have you tried it with the H4 unplugged?

there is an option somewhere "clean up" i think it is in cubase.

also though i you have deleted files just willy nilly, you may not be able to delete the rest of the related files because its missing parts. kind of like deleting files in a program instead of using uninstall.

i would save all your projects to a file outside of cubase and just do the clean up option in cubase.
i think it finds stuff that's not being used and deletes them

yep, tried it with H4 unplugged, have already tried the clean up function. i even restored the deleted file a few times to see if i could delete it via cubase but still nothing. it's just weird that the 'empty trash' works with files recorded directly into cubase but not with files from the memory card. the good news is that if no one comes up with an answer, i'll just start from scratch and say lesson learned! :)

when you say memory card, do you mean in the H4?

there is a delete function in the H4.

Oh man, call me brain dead. It just dawned on me.

Are you trying to delete the H4 memory card from within Cubase? If so that probably is not going to work. Cubase LE is a pretty light weight program and I am guessing does not look at the H4 memory as another drive.

So yes, as Deon mentioned you will have to delete the H4 memory files from the H4 itself.

No, I'm not trying to delete the memory card within cubase. I'm trying to delete the file that *was* on the memory card but then *transferred* to my pc so i could import it into cubase.

As mentioned in my original post, I used to record on the H4 (i.e. memory card) and then transfer the files from memory card (in the H4) to my computer. And then, I would create a new cubase file, add a new track, and import the .wav file into cubase. But then i deleted the track in cubase because it wasn't a good recording. But the "empty trash" is greyed out, so i can't delete the file from my hard drive. if i delete it from "My Computer", i get the "missing files" message in my cubase.

oh now i know what the "missing files" message is. that's just when you re-open that same project again is it?
im thinking you were getting it out of cubase.

so as you've said, you're over that song now and you wanna start again?

just start a new project and turf the other one completly for your computer by going into the cubase projects folder.
you will always get that message in cubase in that "same" project now, even if you were to record new files and carry on with it.

so just hurl it and proceed with a newy.
