Does anyone use the m-audio profire 610.I heard it has great pre's and ad/da converters.I currently use an Edirol FA-101 but am not really happy with it,anyone have any comparison to these two, Thanks.

I went to a seminar from M-Audio a couple of weeks ago, and their guy was pretty much ranting about those same details on that particular series of interface . Appearently they have converters that are very similar to the middle of the road Apogy products . Although I haven't heared any music produced through these(other than the demo tracks their guy had running), I've had nothing but success out of the three Delta cards I have from them in my DAW . When it's time for me to upgrade, I'll be looking into the 26-i/o version of that interface .

I was looking at the projectmix I/O but i need a desktop interface for now,i was looking at the 26 also but the 610 is in my budget for the time being. Ive heard good and bad about m-audio but my Edirol seems far inferior to the 610.
Seems like a great fit for sonar 8!
thanks

Ive decided to go with the profire 2626! I might not need all the I/O right now but ill be set in the future when i need them, cant beat the price for a high quality unit, cant wait to put it through its paces.
I just watched a youtube video on Sonar 8, new features sounded pretty cool, the beatscape (or s/thing like that) sounds like it will be awsome, I CAN'T WAIT.

Just got my Profire 2626,pre's are excellent, still havnt sat down for a long session but this weekend i plan to spend decent time with it. Still waiting on guitar center for my Sonar 8. I also have a good chance at landing some M-Audio bx8a and bx5a deluxe monitors, the 8's are frikin huge. Got 85% of my acoustic treatment up so my studio looks and feels like a studio, ill post pics this weekend.
On a sad note,i got a new thunderbird bass but when it arrived via ups,the neck had come away fron the body so bad luck does always follow good.

You are going to love Sonar 8. It is amazing what they have done with the Audio Engine now. Lowest latency I have ever seen here.

Blasted United Pot Smokers ! My cowriter worked there for years... the horrors of what he refered to as 'small sort'... just throwin' stuff that is awkwardly shaped into a pile of other odly shaped boxes .

Glad to hear 'bout the pres in that 2626 . Looks like a real solid bit 'o kit .

Ya, I pre-order the upgrades the minute the email hits the in-box. I'm not very patient at all.

But ya, you'll be bouncing off the walls when you get it as well.

I finally got my Sonar 8! I knew it was a deep daw but im totally out at sea so far, only had limited hours yet though,so much **** on the interface.Im having problems getting sound from my NI plug-ins and i cant seem to find the v-vocal,the only thing ive managed to get sound from is Absyth? I use the fm8 and massive a lot but cant get them to work.
On the plus side, the pre's on the 2626 are awsome.I used it as a standalone pre and even thru krk monitors it sounded frikin sweet.
Im looking to get new strings for my Bass, any recomendations? i usually use EB Slinkies but i dont know **** about Bass strings, Thanks.

Sonar is prolly one of the most intuitive progs to use out there... you'll catch on soon . : )

Bass strings ? We use Dean Markleys Blue Steel strings on every guitar/bass in the studio... LOVE 'em for rock/metal . They have excellent staying power, as well .

IF you got sound from Absynth then all the others should work.

Are you setting them up with the synth rack or the synth tool the Sonar provides or are you doing it manually?

I get no sound out of anything when i use the synth rack, even the sonar VI's.I set the NI stuff up manually, set them all the same as Absynth but even that has a lot of lost files? Ill try the sonar synth tool i guess and hope it works, i don't think its my interface because i was using G-rig 3 2 days ago and that worked great.

I was looking at getting Elixers for my Bass but ill check out the blue steels, i always use EB Hybred slinkies on my guitar but they dont usually last very long, but at least they are cheap!

Now my pc has stopped recognizing my 2626.I downloaded the new driver updates, should i reinstall the drivers from the included disc? I know i need a new pc but i have to make do with this a-hole pos for now.Ive been reading on editthis website about all the things you can do to your pc to make it more efficient but it doesnt solve my major problems like lost files and loss of sound from 80% of my vi's!

Hey Noize,
I know you are a huge fan of the line6 ux-2 , just saw they came out with a new unit,UX-2 studio, let me know if you hear anything about this,i was all ready to buy the UX-2 but i might hold off to get some feedback on this newbie, thanks.

It is simply the same exact UX-2, only in black with a UX-2 logo instead of the Tone Port logo on it. Actually the only thing that is not black on the UX-2 original is the face which is red.

As for the POD Farm Plugin, I'm not real hip on that yet. I personally like the control I get from using the standard Gearbox set up to control and tweak my patches on the PC for the UX-2. And I can still do automation of gearbox right from Sonar if I want so I'm not convinced that this new POD Farm thing is going to be a huge deal breaker for me.

As for the sound, The UX-2 out now comes with a few more amp, cab and pre models from what I can see. So for the price and what you are going to be doing with it I would probably opt for the regular Tone Port UX-2 that is out now. It really only looks as though you are simply gaining the ability to use the software side of it as a VST plugin in your DAW. Which if you not doing major knob twisting during a performance isn't an absolute must have on this end.

Tone wise, nothing different about it at all.

Hey Guys,
Do you know much about Audiolabs, they make recording pc's at a decent price,i was looking at the sweetwater creation stations but AL pc;s are about 1/2 the cost and lose only a few features.
Yeah,i think ill wait for a price drop on the ux-2 and go with that one, some of the samples ive heard sound cool, they sound better than my guitar rig for sure and i like the updates line 6 offer.
Thanx.
