hi im planning to buy a macbook pro to start mixing and i was wondering how it all works?
my friends got a laptop and an audio interface and he says that he can use them like some decks and a mixer but i dont see how it could work as you only get one channel of sound out of the laptop.
im sure the program he uses does it but i would prefur a mixer and a mac so i can cross fade manually
IS THIS POSSIBLE?
and if so how?

Thanks
Michael

Not trying to be an ***, but if you know someone personally who has this setup, it would seem that they would be a good person to ask.

Probably the audio interface allows for more than one channel of sound, both from the computer and entering the mixer, and then from the mixer either back into the computer or into a set of speakers.

well, first thing, every laptop I've seen has 2 channels built in: stereo.

Then, if the friend has an audio interface, then the interface is your sound card, so it can have different numbers of sound channels.

But, to DJ with software, you just need a list of songs, and the software to send each song out your audio interface.

There's also interface decks that plug into the laptop, so you can manually fade, and do other things, with an actual desk. But it controls the DJ software.

Here's a keen one:
