Sound Card

I'm looking to replace my stock soundcard and I have no idea what to look for. I was looking at soundblasters, but from what I've read that's not what I should be looking at. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, fairly inexpensive sound card?

You really need to define "fairly inexpensive" -- There are about 3 billion different interfaces out there. How many I/O do you need? Number of analog I/O, digital I/O, do you need to feed a monitoring controller, etc., etc., etc. All of these things are going to affect the price vs. quality.

The #1 inexpensive sound card

two in two out card...awesome little unit

obviously that may vary with your input/output needs and whatnot, but the Audiophile is great for a great price.

hey man i just answered another one of your posts.
your interface "is" your soundcard. you shouldnt be running thru anything else but your US1641.
This is why you are having the issues you mentioned in the other thread.

i dont know the full techhead side of it, but im sure someone here can explain why the 2 dont mix together, at least in this respect.

ok, so the speed and quality of my recording is determined by my interface, not my sound card? If so the only real upgrade I should have on my computer is an external hard drive right?

possibly, depends on the specs. what are they?
also are you using your computer for other things? internet? etc.

im not a full bottle on the whole windows thing but most here are. it makes a big difference as to how things run.
