mixer channel stuff

hey guys, i just read something on anothe rthread that got me thinking. i've got this Behringer MX802's main outs going into my Delta 44's ins 3/4 and i've always known i could record two simultaneous channels separately by panning one hard left and the other hard right. I just figured out i can record a third channel by leaving the fader -infinite and gaining on the prefader Aux1... i hook the aux1 send to Delta 44's in 1 and TADA! third channel.

what i want to know is, is there anyway to utilize all four inputs on my Delta without another preamp or mixer? i know i can do it with my Audio Buddy, but I'm just trying to figure out all my options. What other tricks are there?

Not to sound like a smart *** or anything but what about the second aux send?

I believe that AUX 2 on the MX802 is Post-Fader, making that rather difficult.

Luckily however, there is a way (yay!) - use the Insert point on one of the XLR Mic Input channels - just get the signal sounding how you want, then plug a cable into the insert point running to the input on your soundcard.

It will cut the signal from the desk (so no monitoring that way, unless you use a Y-Cable) - but it will give you that extra input you are after.

jues.

ah, that's right, I forgot about that. Thanks for catching me on that.

How soon I forget, I used to own the mixer Jamie has right now...

And remember Jamie. Some signals, like the output of a synth or a drum machine can go directlyinto the Delta. When someone brings another synth over, I will someitmes go that route when I am out of spare channels.

Db has threatened to kill me if I ever say anything else about soundcraft, even though he himself thinks the ghost is an awesome board.

But yeah, i could never afford a Ghost.

Actually, yes they are an awesome board, that I can admit. I have used Soundcraft a couple of time in clubs that have them.

But Loki, you are a lot closer to affording a Behringer ;-)

Db- Oh yeah, I know that. I am actually going to get one of the larger behringers when I get some money. I suppose I need to get a job *sigh* Means less time for my girl and band, but needs to be done.

We'll see if your still saying that after 6 months on the road and nothing but saltines and peanut butter to eat, and plain old water to wash it down. And the best part is it will be generic peanut butter, the really oily kind, its easier to get down with the crackers. Maybe the occasional can of Hormel chili with no beans, to spread on the crackers. And if you get really lucky, some babe who finds you interesting might take you to McDonalds or White Castle, or something like that.

By the way Hero, I do wish you the best of luck on this tour. Is this your first time out on the road for an extended period? If it is, watch your back and mind your manors. If you are gratious and willing to work hard, club owners and those along the way who matter most, will make sure you are takin care of. So keep rockin and good luck.

Peace
