Well, finally caught up enough to post some pix of Tuna in MO after graduation from basic.

He is a completely different dude now. Well mostly. Its funny to hear him talk now, mam and sir coming out of his mouth.

He had some cool buddies down there and loved it. He didn't think it was nearly as bad as people were telling him, so that is good.

WE got to visit for 6 hours on Wed. and 8 on Thur so that was great. Long drive down though on back roads. I found out why on the trip home why Google mapped back roads. Taking more main highways took over 2 hours longer coming home and about 180 extra miles from construction detours and crap.

Anyway, bought us all the pix and stuff so that was cool. Got several DVD's and a CD of pix and movies of them in basic which I'll be watching here shortly. He is all Army now though and is looking forward to traveling and stuff.

He did get to Ft. Bliss in one piece after an 18 hour buss ride. I need to start looking for a lappy for him though as it sounds like they won't issue one until he is finished with AIT. He's been using his Blackberry for surfing and emailing but its a pain he say's.

Anyway, there are some pix in my profile. Some good some not.

Ha! Found out why they call it Fort Lost In The Woods did ya? They make sure that no one can slip in and out of the base.

I see that the lean mean fighting machine has received his rainbow bright medal. But... wait a minute... No sharpshooter badge? Ahhh, gonna have to fix that.

Wow! Scary how much he looks like you. Give him a goatee, and a few more inches, and he would be the spitting image. Poor kid! (Now you know I'm just kidding, or maybe not?)

Congrats to Tuna! For making it through! Here is hoping that Fort Bliss is just as good for him.

Ya, he missed by one shot. He was a little tiffed at that. He ended up shooting all his round's on dreaded peek a boo targets while the others who got their sharpshooter had stationary targets to shoot at. Not sure why he didn't, but oh well. He said he'll get it later on.

I shot a little vid of his paltton marching onto the stage doing a cadence they modded from an old one. They were the loudest platoon of the 4 that graduated that day. Somewhere I've got a pic of the chick Sgt. She is just a tiny little twerp, but loud and mean as hell.

I got to meet his BB Sgt. as well. We laughed about some chick that broke his hand during an exercise with explosives.

But ya, some of his buddies said that too. Told him with the short hair he looks like me. He wasn't thrilled with that.

Ya, I'll keep ya posted with whatever is going on. When I get his email and mailing addresses I'll get em to whoever wants them.

But ya, he is bumbed he didn't make first class promptly but there were reason's I guess that were not in his control.

They did make it to being the number one platoon on base when they graduated though so he is stocked about that.

Great to see some pictures of the graduation ceremony. Tuna looks cool in his uniform. I was curious to hear about a change in his behavior and of course you did. That's what normally happens when you go through basic training; it forces you to grow up at a faster pace. :-)

Yep, like Rob mentioned earlier, he is the spitting image of you. Even if he isn't thrilled about the likeness, Tuna is his father's son. LOL

Below is what IE7 came up with when I tried to go to the Fort Bliss website. Made me laugh though. Apparently you can't trust anybody nowadays, not even the military. :-)

That is kind of funny Nightcap. I got that the first time I went and then didn't the next times I went.

But indeed, I was so impressed by his manners and all. While at the main PX and mall it was fun to see him react to officer's that came by. Apparently there is no saluting during parents day when an officer come by. They just stand at ease and give a nod.

Funny thing though, Tuna is not known for having great rhythm at all. But during the cadence when they marched onto the stage he was right in time and yelling at the top of his lungs. Not a common thing for him at all. Again, I was very impressed by that as well.

But ya, seeing him in his class
A was very cool for me.

You are not suppose to salute an officer indoors. If he is the highest ranking officer to walk into the building for the first time, then your suppose to stand at attention. If your the first person to see him walk in, then you call the whole building to attention.

Other then that, you do what he did. Outdoors, he would of had to salute.

During war time, in a war zone. You are not suppose to salute either. So, the officer's that we had a beef with, we would. It was fun to watch them freak out when you did. I think the message got across.

Ya, didnt' think you saluted an officer outside or the enemy would know which one to shoot.

...also never be the third one to light a cigarette

I see, that would explain it then.

IE7 still gives the warning every time. Just a minor issue nothing serious, still it's kinda funny for a site like that.

I noticed on the home page that Juarez Mexico is off limits to all personnel. Good thing with all that drug violence going on there.

Ya, I hope they don't go over there. That is just nuts.

Thanx OD, I guess I never really looked closely before. Or maybe its because of the short buzz now that he looks more like me.
I'm still waiting to get his military email and new mailing address. He has a ton of stuff he wants sent down there.

Bluesdues, I must not have refreshed this page before I started typing as it was open for about an hour before i got back to it.

Anyway, yep it was a proud papa moment for sure. I am so glad he took this on full tilt and is actually enjoying doing it and going somewhere with it.

He is now at Ft. Bliss TX and is stoked that they are still making them get up for formation at all hours of the day and night. He really digs that part of it. I was surprised by that as I thought he would hate getting rousted at all hours. But he knows that is part of being prepared and is going full tilt. He has a couple cool roommates and they are all getting along great I guess. They can order take out and what ever so he is liking that for a change from Mess hall all the time. But I warned him no to go overboard and spend all his dough on that kind of thing.

Anyway, thanx and I'll pass along the congrats.
