Hello everyone!
I'm very new to computer recording. I just bought a macbook pro and when I realized this is a great computer to do some home recording (mainly on guitar) on I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a Interface audio system.
I went to guitar center and purchased a Tascam US-144. I was told it would be very simple to install, however I am having trouble. I installed the software and tried updating the drivers (not sure if I have the latest one)
I have a guitar, cable, my tascam-144, the usb wire, and my macbook pro.
Thanks for the help, this is a great website!

Aug 27, 2008 09:21 pm Just to update a few more things - I have all of the latest firmware and drivers.
firmware - 1.12
driver - 1.11
Aug 27, 2008 10:38 pm For starters, what problems are you having?
Aug 27, 2008 10:49 pm It doesn't look like my computer and us-144 are recognizing when the guitar is plugged in. There is no light on the us-144, and garage band does not recognize anything either.
Aug 27, 2008 10:56 pm Just to add Cubase LE 4 isn't recognizing anything either.
Aug 28, 2008 12:13 am update - i finally got the computer to recognize the us-144.. but i cannot for the life of me record onto garage band (I've used the tutorial multiple times going through each step)
Aug 29, 2008 11:17 pm Hmmm... that's interesting. I know from my experience that I purchased a Tascam FW 1884 for use with Garageband and it didn't work so I had to upgrade to Logic, however if the interface isn't working with Cubase either then you might actually have a bad device.
Did you purchase in a shop or online? You might want to try exchanging it for another.
Also, dig around on the apple support forums for a bit. You might find some info there.
