Help mixing tracks please!!

Hi everyone! I'm very new to mixing. I just bought Acid Pro 6.0, and up until now have understood most of it. However, I've been trying to attain a certain effect but have not succeeded. I would like to take the end of a clip and cause it to "echo." I guess all I really want is for the clip to repeat a couple of times on the last word so it sounds echoed, and then link it to another clip with a sound effect. I have NO idea how to cause this echo... Can anyone please help me out?? Thanks!!

Look for "Echo" or "Delay" in the manual.

You could copy the clip that you want to echo, and 'apply' the delay to that clip alone... place it on its own track to be able to tweak it without effecting the rest of the mix .

I have done what Hue mentioned, copied the last couple words into a new wav file, inserted in it's own track and applied a crazy echo to it.

I also did this on some feedback swells for guitar, it sounded awesome.

Right, but part of my question is how do I do that?? I can't figure it out. And the more detailed your instructions are, the better. I don't know ANYTHING about using the FX on this thing yet. I can cut and drag and all that stuff fine, but I don't get the FX...

Honest - It's in the manual. It's actually quite a good manual. You need to understand routing and signal flow before anything is going to make sense. Also in the manual.

Not until (he?) reads the manual and figures out (A) what automation is and (B) what to automate...

Haha first off, I'm a girl, but that's ok. Second off, the manual's all well and good, but it's hard for me to understand because I'm an idiot when it comes to the terminology... I've tried to read it, but feel like once I get past simple cutting of tracks and whatnot I am compeltly lost...

yeah i know what you mean about the manual, seriously though, if you read up on it and and let it sink in a bit you will find things heaps easier, coz you might get the answer to your question here, but then a day later you will be stumped on something else.

I used to hate reading the damn things and found myself saying to myself, "i dont need to know what this is called" and "ah, stuff that terminology its not rocket science" etc.
But i now know, if you dont understand these things you be forever tearing out ya hair trying to get stuff done.

do you have a "help" button in Acid? im not familiar with it. it should do.
check it out it should be able to guide you to what you need.
look for "effects" and i would seriously check out "automation"
This where you can get acid to automaticly put an effect on, and take it off again, on anypart of the song you like. So you basicly set it up to do whatever you like whenever.

It's like Deon said, karabear, it's a step by step process.

First off, you should change your attitude towards reading (learning). It takes a little effort, but it will make you a lot smarter. And if you don't understand the first time? Read it again, and again when necessary.
