The thread is accompanied by loads of profanity, but its the biggest laugh man im telling ya.

some things in there i reckon no one here knows absolutley.
i think its done by a professional metal AE.

Ha ! I forgot all about this one . Good read, for sure . Although, I'll prolly never mic my cab again, with the way the direct-out of this new amp sounds... I couldn't get any better with any mic I have .

Fun/informative read, nonetheless .

It's a Line6 FlextoneIII, w/shortboard . I just gave the two(L & R)XLR-direct outs a try last night, and was utterly blown away ! The sound was as good, if not better than anything I've come up with by micing the cab with a LDC . They use some kiind of 'AIR' technology to model the sound of a mic'd cab... friggin' amazing !

As far as 'Heavy' goes, this thing nails both the Mesa, and Marshall tones to a 'T'... it actually 'feels' like you're playing through tubes ! I don't know how they did it, but I'm glad they did . Prolly the best sounding amp, I've ever had the pleasure to plug into .

I had the HD147 for a long time. Lacking mics at one show I informed the sound tech of the stereo direct outs. He used them and said they sounded awesome, he (and I) were quite suprised.

mmm, sounds like a possible addition to the ever increasing list of stuff i want to get.

dont get me wrong i love my head and box. just dont think i can blast it enough to record with it. although i am gonna try an attenuator. but still this sounds interesting for sure.

Also, there's an ''lil dedicated volume knob that goes with those outs, so your recording/PA signal can be adjusted without messing with the amps volume . They thought of everything .

isn't thew flextone III like having a PODxt in the amp (well for the most part) . I'm trying to find a good superclear amp to run my PODxt with possibly a nice tube amp. I know this is crazy talk for some but mixin and matchin is what it's all about.

Yeah Geoff, that's pretty much it . With the shortboard, y'a get one less expression peddle, and a couple less foot-switches than the PODxt, and it runs into a 150w amp with a Celestian-loaded 2x12" cab . I'm pretty sure they make a 1x12" version as well .

I'm not sure how much you'd actually bennefit from using a tube amp with a tube-amp-modeler... y'a might actually be better off finding a nice clean power amp to run it into .(?)

I was think so as well but there is an amp that is made for the amp modeling boxes that i belive is tube powered. I've run the Xt though a pa and it worked well but I was just think about mixin and matching and messing around . I rarly mic amps but I've done some goofy stuff, even though i end up going back to the direct tracks (or blending em)

I'm hip ! I'd never thought I'd go back to recording guitars direct again . With the options that this amp has to it, both physically and toneally, it has single-handedly changed my approach to all the guitar parts on the up-coming album . AND I'll be able to recreate all those tone-changes in the live shows as well . heh, I never thought I'd end up one of those 'Line-6-guys' . = p I did need to keep one stompbox in the line, though... the Boss Super Overdrive... just couldn't get around the gainstaging that one provides .

Jeez it warms my cockle's to see all this Line 6 Luv going on.

Isn't this what I have been preaching for about 10 years now?? Or something like that, however long Line 6 has been around???

But ya, Tripps. Try something from Tech 21. They make a super clean little amp that Ben, our buddy from MGR used with his live and it absolutely kick arse!

The one thing I can tell you is to make certain to keep the things updated and current. And ALWAYS back up your patch creations! Since there are a couple of updates that twisted a couple of my favorite creation's and I had to go back and re-load them and re-tweak them to fit with the update's.

Hue, on the feeling thing. It isn't exactly like the push and pull of a tube amp but it is damn close to it when you get it juicing through the right set up. That is the main reason I keep the PR15's in here powered with 1000 watts. I can get that feeling playing it live when I need to. I simply hang a mic in here to pic up the speakers and then mix it in with the direct tracks. It works out great when I need the extra push and sustain/feedback that only live speakers can give.
