I think I just automatically sent an e-mail to everyone involved in HRC Fantasy Football '07 (last year). If you were, check your e-mail and someone let me know if you got it. If you didn't get it, let me know and I'll e-mail you the League Log-in information directly.
After a few days, if there isn't enough interest, I'll open it up to other HRC members.
What do say we cap off the league at, in terms of number of people this year? Ten? Twelve? The more people we get the fewer good players we get. I'm OK with twelve, but would consider other options.
Also, take a good look at the scoring settings to see if we need to change anything. There's always conversation about this or that during the season, but then it's too late to do anything about it. Look 'em over.
May the best man win (as long as it isn't Herb).

Is this like the real NFL, in that the teams with the best records from the previous year get the lousiest draft picks?

I created an "HRC Dummy" team in order to make it an even number of players. If Coolo wants in, I'll send him the login information. If not, maybe someone else will want it, or we'll just leave it unclaimed and maybe I'll actually win one week.

Funny thing is I'll probably get beat by the dummy team we have in there on the first week.

Sep 01, 2008 08:13 pm I actually tried it the first year and I think it just made things worse in my case.
Just do what I did and pick up players as you go along. It worked kind of well for me last year. AT least I won a few games when I got my players shifted out on time for by weeks.
Sep 02, 2008 02:26 am i couldn't manage that last year. i tried to engineer two trades, but neither person replied.
the autodraft worked well for me last year. i had roethlisberger and a good running back or two. but i find it hard to play the game if i've got drew brees as my QB. i'm not sure if ranking would have helped, but i would have stocked my first 10 spots with my preferred qbs, backs, and receivers. even though brady is the safe choice, i would have put ben first, as it makes the game more fun to root for the people you actually are rooting for. and besides, ben should be in anyone's top five.
it's not a sore loser thing, though. if i would have remembered to rank and yet still received a bad draft, then that's the way the cards would have fallen. with the autodraft, ranking is the only control you have over anything. if you consent to that, then you work with what you receive by the luck of the (ranked) draw. but i'm not sure how much i can be in on this with a truly random draft, which is how this feels.
i think the next time i do this, i should participate in a real draft. it's really maybe the only way to be truly invested.
i guess unless someone has a better suggestion, i'll trade players now and then let this team go ghost.

some of my friends are thrilled, but i like having brady around. last season was epic. i like storylines. i guess we just got a plot point in a new storyline, and i'm not a pats fan, but i think by and large i'd prefer it if this hadn't happened.
defeating brady and the pats means your team is really good. with him off the table, it's a different thing.

Sep 08, 2008 06:30 pm Ya, I finally got a decent QB after having lousy ones in FF and now he gets broken into little pieces. I am shot for the season. I looked last night and there is not one decent QB in there for me to pick up. I guess I can look forward to another loosing FF season.
