Monitor position in Control Room

If I have an oddly shaped control room, do I still need to have both monitors on the same wall? I have a "to-scale" diagram of the studio so if I can figure out how to upload it I will but any advice you have on monitor position would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

they don't need to be on the same wall, no, but it is best to have them in symetrical places. Same distince from the wall (especially if rear ported), same distance from perpendicular walls or from the corner between them...

Thanks! I uploaded a pic of the proposed layout. I record primarily vocals and digital instrumetns along with the occasional accounstic guitar. I would love to have a bigger mic room to be able to house a full drum set as my brother is a percussionist. The pic shows up somewhat small but you will see the control room on the left side of the room. (I did it in Excel to pass the time at work!) I am looking to know where the best place to put monitors would be keeping in mind that that wall splitting the room will be half glass so I cant mount there. Any advice would be appreciated...

If you can get them on the equipment table and up to about ear level that would be ideal. It won't be in close proximity to the mixer or Mac but it would allow you to keep an equilateral triangle between the monitor's and the listener's head which is what optimum placement would be. But to be honest I worked for years with my monitor's placed oddly in my original room in a bungalow. It wasn't perfect but it worked just fine.

Much appreciated! I was hoping they would work there.
