HI EVERYONE IM NEW HERE AND ...
I've recently installed Acid PRO 6 on my notebook with VISTA and this message appeared "The MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR service does not exist or the current account does not have enough privilege to manage it." I've got the same software on a pentium 3 with xp and i had no probs with the insatllation. It looks as if it is the Microsoft SQL server that is not able to work on vista, i found out and it seems that microsft has this SQL Server Express 2005 i installed it and nothing happened still the same message i can use the software but not at 100% of its functions. SOMONE HELP ME!!
Thanks!!

Did you try running Acid Pro 6 as an administrator on Vista? Right click the shortcut and select "Run as administrator".

To run a program as admin permanently:
- Right click shortcut
- Select Properties
- Click Advanced
- Check "Run as administrator"
- Click OK

In the Compatibility tab in the Properties window you can select the compatibility mode; e.g. Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Nightcap has it pretty much spot on. Vista has several issue's like this. Pity is there is nothing Sony or several others can do about it as of yet. Some companies like Cakewalk have a bit more invested in their product and create a fix rapidly.

I know Sony is working on a fix for a couple issues like this at the moment. As well as a few other DAW makers out there.

Sorry to hear that. You seem to have done everything right. Most of the issues I had with Vista concerning software problems, could be solved the way I suggested. Except for some really old programs. (And I mean REALLY old LOL)

Next question: is the MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR service actually running? If it's not than that would explain the error message too.

I guess I would maybe give Sony tech support a shot at this as well. It sounds like you tried all the normal means to fix it and none worked.

I as well don't know enough about Vista to even touch this one. But to me it sounds as though you have done what you can in Acid.

Just checked the system requirements for Acid Pro 6 on the Sony Creative Software website and Vista is not even mentioned:

- Microsoft® Windows® 2000 (SP4) or XP

I'm afraid your out of luck until they fix this problem.

Nevertheless, I would follow Noize's advice: the more complaints Sony receives the more they will be pressured to act.
