Pro tools M Powered Firewire solo

I've just gotten my Pro tools setup, and being completely new to it, and all PC music production, I'm oblivious on how to setup a interface for it. I have the M-Audio Firewire solo interface, installed and working...but I can't figure out how to get recording with it.

I plug in an electric guitar directly into the inputs, front/back doesn't matter, and I can't get anything to record...or even be heard I'm pretty sure.

Any help with this, my dad's threatening to take the laptop away if I don't get it done tonight :/

You need to select the drivers and make them active for input and output in the audio options section.

Then once that is done you need to actually tell the track to use them for input as well as output for each individual track.
