Tuna, the saga continues

So the letters have all been pretty up beat, until this one.

I don't think I mentioned they got their third Drill Sergeant about a week and a half ago. He stated she is awesome and is all Army all the time. He and a few others are really digging that. But...

She is a killer I guess. They are about to become the number one platoon on the entire base I guess. She just smokes them hard. But it comes with a price. She yanks all their phone Sunday privileges if just one idiot screws up. Which he was ready for anyway as his Sergeant buddy warned him that might happen.

He was being photographed with a band that played down there and his pic will be on the website in a week or so.

He is learning some killer sayings from the Sergeant buddy though. Here is my favorite so far. It is what U.S. Army really stands for he says.

Yes My Retarded A** Signed Up.

Of course he says its back wards for a reason but wouldn't tell me.

Ummmm, yeah, didn't he ever watch Gomer Pyle...they always punished like that. And I am pretty sure that show was an accurate representation of the real army :-)

Ya, he is well aware of what could happen. He has been busting his arse to stay out of trouble and doing what ever he can to keep things straight on his end. But there is always someone else that is going to wreck it for the rest.

But he is still having a ball. I also found out what all the extra cash I sent him was for. He figured since he is in for the long haul he is buying extra uniforms ans such right away. And they are still not sure who was swiping drawers and other clothes, but he is still trying to find out.

I don't know if they still do this or not.

It use to be that everyone before they graduated basic, had to endure some form of abuse from the DI's.

The DI's had a calendar in their office. On each day there was a recruits name written in. In red.

When your day came up, all of the DI's where on you. Hard.

It was kind of a right of passage. Make it though your red letter day, make it through anything.

Not a fun day to remember. I can recall it breaking many recruits down to nothing.

With a changing of the guard.. so to speak. It sounds like they are gearing up for that.

But, from everything that you have told us that Tuna has been through already. He should be fine.

Ya, I'm pretty sure he will be fine. He is already geared himself to this being a career and is looking forward to getting on after basic.

He is really stoked to be able to do airborne as well and is chomping at the bit to do that when the time comes.

It does sond like he's doing fine and will get though it just fine. My little brother graduated Basic almost 2 years ago and he's on his first deployment (15 months). My other brother is on the USS Rentz heading back to CA in another month, hell this is the first time I'm not the one that's deployed . So Paul from my fam to yours we know what he's going though and he'll be fine no matter what they toss at him. I'll try and give you a call sometime this weekend , maybe even dan.

At Fort Sill I don't recall a 'red letter day' just a 'hell week'... week 7 I think... New drill sergeant who 'doesn't know you' and starts from scratch.

Hell week sounds more fun that a simple red letter day. Either way, I'm sure he is ready for what ever they toss his way.

If it's the soap, I hope he doesn't drop it.

Well I figured that having a dad with all that experience in the BSA would have taught him a few things.

Go Tuna!

Hey Noize. Tuna had written a letter back to me.

Looks like he is interested in getting the rest of the Dropkick Murphys pic's.

Which is not a problem. I can send them out to him. It's just going to take me a little bit to do so.

My printer is on the fritz. I am buying a new one soon as I get the chance.

The next time he calls home, could you inform him of that for me?

Hey Rob, are they the same ones you sent to me? If so let me know and I'll print em off and send em in the next package.

It looks like you sent me 7 pix. If that is correct I'll print em and send em if you would like. I have been sending 2 or 3 letter's a week, usually a couple with pix included.
