Great trashcan filler! No specifics, little how to's. More like an inane critique of SX. It's claimed to be a quick start guide but does not offer enough detail to start much of anything. For the advanced user it will induce sleep. For the young musician it includes mildly amusing phrases such as "sucks" "anally retentive audio geek" and "cultural prudes". Michael babbles about his "feelings" a lot. There are a few good tips that are woven to the threads we see here at HRC, but they are few and far between.
Conclusion, use the money to buy TP. The book is published on high gloss paper and will only induce smearing.

Mar 01, 2003 10:14 pm The best books I have seen for any of the applications most of us use are the XXXX POWER books writen by Ben Milstead for Muxka & Lipman. they are by far the most informative books I have seen to date on any of this stuff. dB and I got copys of Home Recording POWER! about a year or so ago and I found it very informative. I have parused the Sonar power book and it had a boat load of stuff for the begginer and the power user. At $30.00 a book though, they had better be.

Mar 03, 2003 10:02 am Geoff,
I will, I promise. Right now I am up to my eyeballs in liturature. The artsy fartsy bug has bitten me well. I am getting back into photography along with music. (minor 20 year lapse while raising children) I just need to be a little cautious as the hobbies are getting bigger as is the honey doodle list. My other hobby, being married. On top of that, spring is comming and the motorcycle is starting to call to me. I estimate one more book will put me in the shed with the motorcyle perminately at present. I knew I should have gotton the electricity ran out there last summer!

Mar 03, 2003 05:32 pm Hey Geoff, Amazon.com has got them through our link on the Home page here. Just do search for books and search for Cubas SX Power! Dont forget the exclamation point. They have all the Power books, like Home Recording Power! and what not. They are done by several differant writers, and they stay with the product real well. Full of power user tips and all kinds of goodies. So far they are the best books referancing this stuff I have found.
