Ok heres my situation. Just got back from university and bought my recording seup home with me (My computer and Fireface 800) but i left the driver disk for it back at Uni. I was recording and then started some playback. Next thing Cubase is skipping like all hell broke lose and I then get a hardware failure screen (you know the blue one). Do you think my drivers or Fireface program has just had a little crash or I blew up the Firewire interface itself? I have uninstalled my driver but cant load it back on until i get back to university in a couple of weeks. Has anyone had the proble with RME or any brand of Firewire interface crashing or doing such things. Oh BTW my OS is Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

A hardware failure would state exactly that.

The BSOD is probably a driver failure or a corrupt file or simple file failure. That can be caused by something conflicting with the file or something that you installed that is effecting it.

If you have recently installed other software or updates you can try a system restore to an earlier date that you know it was working on.

Just to note also in the settings of the Fireface or manager whatever it is, constant errors kept counting in the error count section and i mean it didnt stop.

That sounds like a a corrupt driver or possible system conflict then for sure.

If you have an on board sound card you could probably dis able it while running the fireface. That could be a possible cause of the conflict.
