setting up an outdoor show-HELP!

Hello,
I need to set up a system on the sidewalk.
Instruments: drums,one keyboard,vocal.
Equipments: a 150W bass amp w/ built-in EQ,a behringer mixer(xenyx 802), a cardioid mic.
Style of music: pop,rock,ambient

I am on a really tight budget. I am hoping that I can borrow another amp and plug the mic to the amp thru the mixer. Would that work? How to deal with feedback problems?

Can you come up with a free and effective setup?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

How many people?

I assume the drums won't be mic'd so.... Keyboard into amp, microphone into another amp and that's about it. Unless you have a power amp and a set of PA speakers I would just leave the mixer out of it.

Now, if you are going to have alot of people then you would indeed need to get some amps and speakers so they can hear.

two people. The keyboardist does the vocal.

How much watt the amp should have, in order for the vocal to cut through the mix?

Would there be feedback because of the mic?

I'm sorry, I meant how many people do you expect in the crowd.

It's a street fair/daytime show. So I'd say 20-40 people? The venue is a gallery but we have to set it up outside on the sidewalk because the gallery has no room.

I still don't see how I can plug a cardioid mic directly into an amp. Wouldn't that sound terrible? What about the feedbacks?

I am looking for renting a powered speaker. Since the drums are not miked, is it even necessary(the powered speaker)?

I guess I would suggest trying it in practice to see if you can sing loud enough over the un-micced drums and the amplified keyboard. If not then the powered speaker would be the best bet.

I will give you a bit of advice though, singing that loud for a couple of hours or more will put a strain on your voice if you have to push excessively to to be heard over the drums and keys.

On the mic into an amp. Sure it's not the greatest solution, but it would sound far from terrible. Low gain, higher volume, EQ to taste. Worth a try at least.
