I have made a song that sounds good until played over loud club speakers, and I was told that I need to compress the whole song...any opinions do i need to compress if so what ratio if not what should I do to make it sound together, because the song sounded loose not tight and I lost all bottom end.

A quick mastering could be done on your multitrack program . Just import the mixed song and add an eq, and a compressor on the fx send of the master track, and tweak-away . Put the eq before the compressor . : )

Jun 13, 2008 01:56 pm Well, you want to use a limiter basically. It is indeed compressing the song but limiters are geared for bringing your final mix up volume wise and balancing out some peaks. If you don't have a limiter you can use a compressor with crazy ratios, DB would probably be more help on manually setting a compressor for limiting.
