Im having trouble using my Microphone in Fl Studio.. Im trying to use the built in vocoder but i dont think the software is recognizing my mic, because when i go to line in it says, "Audio recording requires audio inputs, thus will only work through ASIO drivers. Please adjust your audio settings" Im not sure what it is i have to do..

P.S.. How do i kno if i have an ASIO driver on my laptop? I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5804, withwindows vista, intel pentium dual core, and Dolby dound room..

What you'll need to do is first figure out if ASIO drivers are available for your soundcard, and then download them and install them. Then you''d need to go into your settings in FL and select the ASIO drivers in there, and you should be good.

If you're using the stock soundcard with the laptop I am not sure if you'll be able to get ASIO drivers, however.

ASIO4ALL is an option for soundcards that don't have ASIO drivers built for them.

I've not used them, but have heard many people do.

Google should turn 'em up.

Ths should then make it work with any Mic? Cause it still isn't working, lol.. I am using a little cheap mic, could that be the problem?

If i have FL Studio closed it says everything is okay but as soon as i open Fl Studio it tells me that the Mic is Unavailable even tho its still hooked up and everything..

Could this just be a problem with Fl Studio?

It works fine when i use it in Acid pro and Audacity..

Quick question here, but which version of FL Studio are you using. If you're not using at least the Producer edition, then the audio-recording features are disabled as is Edison. That's the situation I'm in right now since I've just got the Fruity-loops edition. No way around that one I'm afraid unless you upgrade.

Yeah, good catch J-Bot, I as well am using fruity loops edition: no audio recording.

Sounds to me like the audio interface drivers at not jiving yet (asio, wdm, mme). WDM and Asio were made to speed up auto communication between devices. WDM can work between different programs, ASIO can only work with 1 program and 1 device.

Maybe set FL to WDM drivers if possible.

Oooh, okay.. That could of been the problem.. i did have my speakers and mic hooked directly to the laptop, maybe it was only recognizing my speakers for some reason..
