I am trying to run a Korg microKorg through my 1212, but am not getting any sound. I'm using Reason 3, which works fine with my M-Audio Firewire 410, but for some reason not with the Emu. Is it the mini-midi cables? Help please! So frustrating!!!

I'll assume you have it hooked up via the midi in and out on the E-mu card. But do you have the midi in and out ports elected in Reason or whatever application you are using? That is how it will be able to use the midi note data to make Reason's synths make sound.

Thanks for the quick response. I have the midi out from the Korg to the midi in on the card and the in from the korg to the midi out on the card. I also have the card selected in Reason. Reason says it recognizes the sound card and will play back audio, but it doesn't register the midi even when I set it to a specific channel (something which didn't need to be done with the M Audio external card). Reason has an option to detect the midi connection by the user physically tapping a key or button on the hardware, rather than by just setting it by point and click. This works for my USB MPD16, but not for the midi keyboard unless I use the other soundcard.

Does it have the card available if you look at the actual ports rather then the channels?

If so that is what you need to select. Then you can either choose omni or a specific channel for input and output.

Otherwise it wouldn't hurt to simply use the card that works with it for just the midi input and output.
