Mbox2 Mini and using MIDI

Right. Im having a few issues. The Mbox2 mini doesnt have any midi slots but to get the Mbox 2 (the big brother) was going to cost me another £100. So i figured i could get MIDI via a USB and would be sorted.

I have a cheap MIDI USB cable my friend lent me which came with no software and is just 'plug and play' and will be using my alesis micron and a basic midi control.

I just want to be able to use software such as BFD (lite) which came with it or even EZdrummer to programme in my own drums.

Do I need a better USB midi cable or a specific 'pro tools' one - they are pretty anal about hardware

I have an empty 'input device' box under the 'MIDI' menu.

Any help is much appreciated

Also i might try out logic express 8 when I get my mac - any objections?

I do alot of electronic music but use bass and guitars too.

Thanks in advance

Ali

If it isn't showing up as a device in the windows or Mac devices list then it is probably a bad cable.

And yes, most devices with actual drivers seem to work better. Although there are some plug and play devices that work just fine.
