Using internal soundcard for output in Cubase 4 LE

Apologies if this has been covered before, but can someone tell me if you can output the sound from Cubase 4 LE through your internal sound card. I've got a Sony Vaio Laptop running Vista.

Do I need to install the ASIO drivers?

If it's better to buy an external sound device, what do I need to purchase?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Yes you can use the stock sound card. Although that is not ideal to record with it will allow you to playback fairly well. And yes, if you have ASIO drivers available for it then by all means install and use them.

As for an external USB or firewire type card. Indeed that would be the way to go for recording and playback at a much better and more stable level.

On recommendations, what type of music would you be playing and how many instruments or types of would you be recording at once?
