I have many a question about Line 6's TonePort UX2. First off, I have a Mac,which I recently updated to 10.5 Leopard. I am considering buying the UX2,but I have some questions first. Is that GearBox software that comes with it compatible with Apple's GarageBand and Logic Express? I heard somewhere that you must purchase a plug-in to use it in GarageBand or other recording software. Does Ableton Live Lite come with the UX2? Is the GearBox Software that comes with the UX2 only compatible with Ableton Live Lite? I have searched endlessly online for these answers, but to no avail. Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

May 14, 2008 03:28 pm Nope, it works natively on a Mac with most recording software.
Just make sure you get the Line 6 Monkey installed and let it connect via the USB to the internet and it will automatically update all the drivers and software for you. Then you should be good to go.
May 15, 2008 08:57 pm Thx! So that means that I can use the 18 Guitar Amp Models,5 Bass Amp Models,10 Vocal Preamp Models, and 29 Effects in GarageBand? Sorry just clarifying, since I've heard that you have to buy a plug-in for $100+ dollars.

May 15, 2008 10:11 pm Well it actually works outside of GarageBand or what ever app you are using and is recorded into GarageBand or the like. It is its own DSP processor and works like both a sound card and an emulator. So ya, as long as you select the UX as your audio input on an audio track in GarageBand then make certain to set it to send the processed signal to GarageBand and you will get exactly what you hear into the recording.
