A few on here are fond of the Seinheiser HD280 (i think it is) for around 100$.

Noize is fond of some AKG, i think. He just had a post a few days ago about them.

phk and pjk, I'm sooooo confused. :-)

Anyway, ya I use both the AKG K-240m and the K-240s which stand for moniter and studio respectively.

They are a tiny bit more comfortable then the Seinheiser HD that pjk mentioned but sound is really close to the same.

I find the AKG very comfy for ong wearing periods and the sound as well is not fatiguing to ones ears when working for extended periods of time.

How is the isolation on the K-240's Noize? I am a drum in control room guy so I need something that guitarists and drummers can track with. I let my nephew borrow my headphones this last weekend along with my PSP, they all got stolen :( Anyway, I am in the market now also and from reviews the AKGs will be my first to try.

Well sadly the 240 series is a semi open model which accounts for the decent sound. But it is not one I would use for an iso headphone. Although the bleed out is not a huge issue here or that I have seen. Unless you get one of those screamers that have to have the phones loud enough to drown out his bellowing. But AKG as well as Sehnheiser both have some good iso type phones that are of the closed variety and work a treat. I'll have to dig the model out but they both have good ones at a pretty decent price as well. Might be a tad over the 100 skin mark though.

I like the AKG's too. Especially for long use. Another pair that that I took a gamble on with great results are the Equation RP-21's.

They are closed backed (good isolation), comfortable, and sound pretty darn good so far. And you can find them for $99 or so.

Ya, that is it Bluesdues. Those are damn good headphones for the money. And good isolation as well. I had listened to a pair at a friends studio and completely forgot about those. He swears by them now. Still has his AKG stuff but loves those for drummer and guitar players.

Ah, you recording guys love the AKG's. For me, since I am in a high SPL environment, I'm kind of partial to the Sony 7506's.

I'll second the Sonys. Got a pair of 7506 and and V900's. I actually prefer the 7506's, but that's primarily because they counter my hearing loss on the high end.

i just shelled out for some of the mentioned Seinheiser HD280'S.

very very impresive. compared to my 49 dollar cheep cheep ones.
now i can see why people talk about phone mixing.

Ya, I've got 2 pair of the 7506 as well. I can't do them for extended periods. And for my ears they have a bit too much color compared to the AKG's. But indeed the sound is stellar as well as the minimal leakages. And yes they are loud as all get out.
