What would you be recording with it? What would you be doing with your final product?

In general, the iMac/GarageBand is a very easy route to go with recording. I've been using GarageBand exclusively for about three years now, and I have found no reason to look elsewhere for my recording needs. But, then again, I'm just a home recordist that does it for fun and not for profit.

So...whether or not the iMac is a good choice would really depend on your intentions...

This is just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't drop that much on a computer to record with a snowball microphone.

The iMac is cool, I've used them several times in studios and they're up to the task, but like Gee J said, it really depends on your intentions.
