REAPER - Knowing which useless takes to get rid of

Been using REAPER for a couple of weeks now and I'm liking it.

ANother problem though.

All the tracks in my song are have names changed according to the naming convention I use, G1A, G2A, G1B etc etc.

The problem is, the actual file names stay the same, so when I go into the project directory I cant tell which are useless old files that I just want to delete as they are taking up space on the hard disk. For example, that last song I posted, the project directory is over 600MB, I dont know which files are crap and which ones are being used in the song.

There is the 'clear project directory' option, which will delete any wave files that don't have a home in your project.

I've used it quite often, as I end up with a ton of crap takes (and 1 good one).

I think there is an option to make the naming convention match the project, but I'm not sure about the actual wave files themselves.

The way I usually do it is to SaveAs the project to a new folder, most Audio apps have an option to copy all the files being used in a project to the new folder. Once that's done I either delete the old project folder or archive it to a DVD.

Cheers, PJK, that seems to work. 130 useless files! I re-wrote sections of that song quite a lot though and I was getting used to the TonePort. Hopefully I'm a little less inefficient in future

my worst is doing drums. 8 mics of takes and I usually end up playing them at least 10 times.
