alright, so to continue my latency issues and adventures. my new formula for recording has been my line in port for guitar, seems to work great. only problem? no audio playback. when i open up my asio4all v2 panel on sonar it says that my realtek hd audio output is unavailable, im not really sure what the reasoning behind that would be? help?

Do you have another sound device? maybe windows thinks it's sending output to something different.

open the windows control panel audio applet, and see if you can choose your realtek as default output.

Otherwise, maybe using WDM may help, instead of asio. I don't know if you tried this before or not, just throwing out ideas.

Unless the Realtek can run WDM drivers, which I don't think it can then it won't run the ASIO4all driver emulator.

ASIO4all needs the WDM drivers to be there and functioning in order for it to do its thing. It is in reality an emulator itself.

I had problems with ASIO4ALL originally as it said my device was unavailable. The problem was that ASIO4ALL was running on another audio program. This meant it was unavailable if I had windows media player, p2p software, etc running.

Yeah, there are issues with ASIO and driver sharing between applications and having more than one device at a time. Most higher end devices have ASIO drivers that are programmed to allow for multiple devices and driver sharing, however, I would suspect that as generic as ASIO4ALL needs to be to account for such a wide range of devices, they may not be able to correct such drawbacks of the basic driver format.

That being said, you can really only squeeze so much water from a rock, and a Realtek card is still a Realtek card no matter what drivers you are using.

In Sonar you should be loading the ASIO4all ASIO driver NOT the realtek driver. I have to ask though why you would even consider using a $2 soundcard with a $500+ software.
