i got the 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and im recording my guitar, but its all staticy and doesnt sound like my amp. is this why people use mics instead of direct in?

Feb 22, 2008 06:32 pm What are you going into with the 1/8"? If it is on a soundcard, the soundcard may be expecting mic level on not line level.

Feb 22, 2008 07:03 pm I believe you would want to be using the line in not the mic in. You would also want to go to the volume control for windows, select options->properties and select "recording", make sure line in is checked then hit ok. Select and adjust the input volume from there, it may just be too loud.
You then use "Volume Control" to adjust the playback volume (only what you are hearing, won't affect the recorded signal).
Also, the tone will not sound exactly like your amp as it is not using the speakers. It should definitely be usable though.

theres just a bunch of noise when im not playing, but ill try what tripps said, see what happens...
