Mic doesn't work, wrong cables?

ok, so this is what i got (im not very audio savy)

Behringer C1 Studio Condenser Microphone
10 Ft XLR to XLR Economy Microphone Cable
Behringer Xenyx502 Premium 5-Input 2-Bus Mixer
3 Ft 1/8 Stereo (M) to Left and Right 1/4 (M)

I think either the mic is somehow dead or i got the wrong cable with the 3ft 1/8 stereo etc. Either way, i tried all the ports with that cable and nothing goes through the mic. I also tried it with two computers and with different sound cards (line in) , nothing works. Any help would be appricated :-D

502 has no phantom power... you will need a separate phantom power supply... or a different mixer.

i want to stay with the mic so should i get

preamp with phantom power (god i hope it does)

or should i get the phantom power adapter
www.guitartrader.com/Roll...om-Power-Supply

with an extra xlr i think. I might go with the preamp though.
I'm just wonder if the cables i got now work with the preamp.

That little Behringer unit sure seems to have a little more bang for the buck. I've always been happy with my Behringer equipment, and that unit will certainly do what you need it to do.

EDIT: After doing a little more research, I might pick up one of those little Behringer preamps myself!

if i get that preamp. What cable would i need to connect it to my computer. OR does the 1/8 Stereo (M) to Left and Right 1/4 (M) already work?

The preamp appears to have one mono 1/4" jack out. So, you would need a cable that goes from that jack into whatever your audio interface has. If you are using the regular built-in sound card, then it sounds like the 1/4" to 1/8" cable that you describe will work fine.

I'm gonna take a guess here (didn't look up the link to the mixer). You will probably need a "Y" cable. 2x 1/4" mono that combines to a 1/8" stereo.
