I'm a newbie, so can anyone tell me, is there a program or software so I can use a 10band EQ to shape tones on my POD2.0 and save them to the unit?

wow what a great question!

i actually can't remember if mine has a parametric on there, but if it does it certainly isn't 10 bands. i haven't opened up my editing program in over three years and don't even remember its name.

i too would like to hear about what pod users here use for editing. i have got to do something about these mids and highs. my pod has always been on the edge of unusable.

You need to hook it up to the PC and log on to Line 6 and download the Line 6 Monkey first off and let it do all the updating and such. Then the program is called Gearbox and it allows you to edit all your patches via the PC.

No, sadly there is no 10 band EQ on it. But there is enough adjustment to work like or better then a real amplifier.

However in the stompbox chain of effects that you can see right there. There is a 4 band parametric that works very well. It will bring up its own editing screen and you simply tweak away and then save the patch to a new file or as whatever it was modified from. I wouldn't be caught dead without my gearbox on the PC.

And by the way, I am not talking about the expensive Gearbox VST pluggin. The application that controls the Line 6 gear from the PC is called Gearbox as well.

Thanks for your input. Now,next question.....I've read of people having problems with midi interface and Vista systems. Is there an interface anyone can recommend that will work best for this operating system. Thanks

I don't have any problems with midi on Vista, I use an M-Audio UNO. I'm running the RC SP1 for Vista though which I understand did fix a midi problem, though even before SP1 I don't recall having any problems.

Gearbox does not work with POD 2.0 and does not have a 10 band EQ either :)

Are you sure about that? Our guitarist has a POD 2 and I was able to connect to it using Gearbox and MIDI connections (MIDI Uno). Don't remember seeing a 10 band EQ though.

If I'm not mistaken, there are two different Pod 2.0 models. One works with GearBox and one doesn't. I don't have time to actually research that claim, but I'm sure someone else can confirm or refute...

And I never said there was a friggin 10 band EQ.

Read what I posted, it is a 4 band EQ!!!

Now that that is out of the way.

If your POD 2.0 does not play nice with the Gearbox then use the 3.0 version of Line 6 Edit.

And yes, there are certain 2.0 versions that worked with Gearbox. Not sure how though, but I have seen it as well.

But like I suggested download and install the Line 6 Monkey software and let it do all the updating for you. It will really keep it from becoming a huge headache as flashing the bios and memory can really be a pain if not done perfectly.

I already had the drivers and such installed on my PC for my XTLive so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. All I did was plugged Don's POD 2 into my MIDI Uno and it worked.

Why the anger ? Original poster asked for a 10 band eq, so Gearbox wouldn't help him even if it worked.

My Pod 2.0 did not work with Gearbox or with Line6 Edit :)

I have an XTL and Toneport now so I don't really need it.

Thanks anyway

I really appreciate all the info! My current band is full on rock so I'm using a Johnson millenium 250 head w/Marshall 4x12 cab. However the new side project I'm starting will be a funk/pop project and wanted to downsize by using the Pod direct into the mains. I'm such a tone freak that I would really like to have more control over what the Pod allows, without having to add an external EQ,hence trying to shape and save using my PC! Anymore ideas would be appreciated.

Sorry Tony, I was kind of kidding really. It just doesn't come off that way in text form.
