hi. this is my first post. i recently looked into buying the lexicon omega recording series based on price and its ability to record four tracks at one time. i am a drummer and am worried about how well it will record four tracks of drums.

to me drums are the most important thing, however i really dont know much about home recording as all of my recordings have been done in a studio. so here is what i plan on buying with a budget of 1000 bucks. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated please just keep in mind i dont have an unlimited budget. here is what i think might be good for recording drums.

Lexicon Omega Desktop Recording Studio

2) Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphones

Sennheiser e604 evolution Dynamic Tom and Snare Drum Microphone

Shure Beta 52A Kick Drum Mic

thanks

George

That gear list sounds OK to me; others may have different opinions.

Mainly, I posted just to say "welcome, pantylotion."

Latency is simply the amount of time it takes an audio signal to get from the input of your sound device, to travel through your hardware, and come out the output of the device.

Software and hardware for serious audio recording are equipped to deal with such things, as long as the latency isn't very high. It really shouldn't be much of an issue.

One thing you can do: type "latency" into the Google HRC search box at the upper right of the page. Many many discussions of it on the forum.
