I used a very early version of Cubasis (1997) and loved how easy it was to compose and arrange. I moved on to reason 1,2, & 3, then Fruity Loops 4, 5, & 6. They all have great features, but I don't want to spend/have the time to get to know them. I want to be able to compose multitrack fast & mess with effects & instruments later.
What's out there that is this simple, with perhaps a few better sounds and some effects. With old cubasis I had to have a module plugged in to use anything but general midi. if anyone knows what would be a good replacement- thanks. Sorry if I couldn't find an answer already- I looked, but saw nothing clear.

Its a very light app with all the bells and whistles at a moderate level. You will find these days that there are tons of free VSTi's out there to use and they will work dandy in this app. and the VSTi I am talking about is a software synth. HS 6 XL comes with a couple but you will find that there are a ton of good ones out there for free as well that will work in it and give you tons of sounds.
