cakewalk sonar LE help

does anyone use this software other than me?, lol. I am using a edirol ua-25 USB audio capture device to plug my guitar into then use cakewalk to record it all. However, everytime I use cakewalk all I hear is my guitar softly in the background and a lot of popping and cracking and static when I try to replay it back to myself. It also makes the notes sound jumpy. Anyone have a clue? please help me...

Jan 21, 2008 03:14 pm i am using the driver that it came with on the cd from the box. I got this as an x-mas present but I havnt been able to use it yet. As of a week ago my "USB audio device" (which is the edirol UA-25) was not even showing up at all on the list of possible in/outputs for the audio track. but now if you plug a guitar into it and start up sonar LE cakewalk it will show up. But if you plug the guitar in 2nd and open the program 1st, it doesnt show up at all unless you close the program, un plug everything and then re-open cakewalk. Also, it calls it "USB audio device" now in the menu, when i got it and installed it all at 1st it went by its actual name in the in/output list, "edirol UA-25". Just thought I would mention in case.
Jan 21, 2008 03:18 pm yeah, but that could be MME, ASIO or WDM I believe, check in your audio preferences, try each one, see which one does best for you...I reviewed the Cakewalk bundle with the Cakewalk branded edirol unit and sonar, and it worked quite well, but I do not recall the driver type I used unfortunately.
Jan 21, 2008 03:36 pm You may want to download the current driver from their website. I've had a few items through the years, that had bogus content on the CD, but fixed on the website.
Also, does the thing have a power supply, or is it running power from the USB port. If no power supply, then maybe there's other things on the usb bus that are taking power? maybe lighten the load, remove other devices to see if that changes it's attitude.
That renaming thing is a bummer. I hate when PCs decide to change themselves. Like something changed, and you have no idea what it was =/.
Jan 21, 2008 07:17 pm also, if you're pluggin' your guitar directly into the interface's "line input", it'll come out weak. if you're puggin' into the "mic in" be sure the "hi-z" switch is activated...this is a special resistance desigened specifically for guitar impeedance.
have you tried miking your guitar with an amp?
