It's "working title" lol is Metal1.
It's in my profile.
No lyrics and no solo yet. Still haven't mastered it completely. Let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance,

Jan 22, 2008 12:21 pm I like the riffs, without vocals it is tough to tell where it's going though. I like a good gallop and they are very catchy to my ears.
On the mix, I know you said it's not done but my first comment would be on the guitars. No real high end to them, also I think the high hat is a little pronounced.
Would like to hear this when you are done.

Jan 22, 2008 12:33 pm I listened, and thought the same thing. I had just listened to Deon's Positively Negative, then went to your Metal1. The difference in upper freq was quite pronounced.
Seemed like there's a blanket over the speaker, if you know what I mean.

Jan 22, 2008 12:59 pm I know exactly what you mean. I am having a hard time using the Eq in Audacity. I ordered Sonar and I am going to re-record all parts once I get it. I will be able to record at the right level this time. I recorded them way to loud last time and I had alot of clipping. I went in and used the Amplify option to turn them all down. I also de-tuned the guitars to C, so it was coming out really low anyway. On the Hi-Hats I always forget to turn those down in FruityLoops when I save it. I have the Demo version so I can only Export as MP3 and can't save it for editing.
Thanks for the great advice and keep it coming.

Jan 22, 2008 01:03 pm Sonic Maximizer :) I love it for my singer\guitarist as his tone is really deep.

Jan 22, 2008 01:17 pm Yea we use it in my drummers studio for the final mix. But I don't have one. Someone gave me a link for the plugin but I couldn't figure it out.

Jan 22, 2008 09:46 pm I still keep an older 422A here. Mostly use it for doing resto work. Flying in tape and vinyl that needs a bit of a boost. It is an art to learn to not over use it though. I used one on guitar for awhile in the days of my old ADA MP1. It helped a bit with that total digital sound. I mis my MP1 though. It had some pretty cool sounds.
Anyway, I kinda like the deep *** guitar sound you got, Might be a bit over board for some though I suppose. I popped on the phones to listen a bit louder, and ya it is a little over whelming but ay, its heavy. I can still here a bit of crispness in the phones though. But ya, lotsa bottom end on this.
I kind of like the crisp sounding hat though.

Jan 22, 2008 10:29 pm I have to go with what Tripps & pjk have said, cool song, but the mix needs a bit of eq work, that's always the toughest part getting everything to have it's own little space, why can't they all just get along ;)

Jan 24, 2008 07:57 pm i agree with the hi-hat thing, are you using a pedal with the guitar?
i would also consider putting some more mids on the kick towards the top end area and then pull some bass out of the eq. on it, so its real punch can come through more.
if ya need more crisp on guitars, again with the bass thing, get rid of it. i tune my guitars to drop B and really kill the bass eq.
