IF I ever have another live amp in here it will probably be one of those little buggers. Got to try one out a bit ago and they are a nice sounding little rig.

Glad ya got one for sure. Can't wait to hear it in a recording.

Nice looking little amp, look forward to hearing you do some tunes with it.

I got a great deal on this little guy. It had a very small ding on the front (can't even see it) and I got $30 off.

I'm always amazed at how loud these things are. I mean it is only 5 watts but I will be able to use it for practice without mic'ing it up.

I was going to suggest taking a look at the Black Heart Little Giant as well but I totally spazzed out and forgot.

About the same price, but it comes with a few more knobs like EQ and I think a drive control. I think its going to be the main competition to the VJ until all the other companies wise up and release low-wattage tube amps.

I hear great things about those Valve Jr. amps though. There are a few mods you can do to them to really get them sounding sweet. heck just swapping out the stock tubes (go to eurotubes.com) and the stock speaker is supposed to be a big kick in the pants.

Have a look around though, you'll find all sorts of easy and fun mods for the VJ.

Meh..

This one only needs one knob. It goes to 11 (see BH's pic - he's a madman..that's crunch city).

Glad you took the plunge BH. Word to the wise: If you plan on playing later - Turn it on NOW.
Run it for a while before you play it. Let it get its juices flowing (after the first warm up, you don't need quite so much).

I'd looked at the mods, but other than maybe changing tubes later I'm sticking with stock. Apparently the Jensen speakers that people have been throwing in aren't a huge improvement. I kinda like the tone I'm getting. Hell, a $179 telecaster, and a $99 amp and I'm in heaven. Beats the pants off one of those "starter kits" with the little solid state amp.

Loud little booger. Try it through a 4x10 or 4x12

Happy trails.

Hey, BH. Instead of the "Day 16 - $136 saved" tag you could change it to "Day 16 - 1 piece of gear bought"

For quite a bit more money....

1/2 watt of tooooob.

My buddy has one through a 2x12. He uses a Weber Attenuator on it...
Way too loud.

Ya, I was trying to think of how that is going to work 'cause right now I'm actually about $20 in the hole.

TC, that is Zack Vex. He is from MN here and a local boy. he builds some killer stuff. He has a tiny little stereo tube gidget as well that runs around $600. And it is the cleanest little thing. I've played through the Nano at Twin Town Guitars here in the cities. Absolutely killer tone up close and personal. The video does not do it justice personally.

He makes some killer one of a kind effects boxes as well. I met him through a little out of the way place here called Good Guys. They are the only place I let service my gear, and especially when I had analog synths. They are like wizards when it comes to that stuff. Its like a tiny little cellar but loaded with vintage goodies.

But ya, amazing how friggin loud a half watt is really.
