Ok I'm sick of it. Some equipment claims that it's for recording/studio use while others claim to be great for live.
This happens with mixers, mics, etc.
Can't they be used for both recording/studio AND live sound?

Jan 20, 2008 03:29 pm When I think of live gear I think that is made rugged and ready to take crap from gigging and travel... and ya, the ability to capture a live performance and sound good.
Certain studio mics might feedback like crazy while trying to use live. Or... a SM58 will perform great live but is not detailed enough to use in the studio. Of course there are exceptions to all the above.

I would say, sometimes yes, sometimes now, depends on a lot of factors...

Jan 20, 2008 03:31 pm oh and mixers...
live mixer might come built into a road case whereas a studio mixer for the most part should have a home.

Jan 20, 2008 03:59 pm For sure (re: the case)... but as an example you might come across a mixer that gets its power from USB... that could cause an issue in a live situation.
btw- we got these cases that you cut out the foam custom to meet your needs. You could essentially make a case for whatever you like. I think they were Pelican cases but Gator and the likes probably have them too.

Jan 20, 2008 08:26 pm Yeah I've heard about those. Are they expensive just because they're custom?
