Electribe

hey I just got an electribe and I have a couple questions. First off, how can I transfer sounds from the electribe to my computer... what kind of cable do I need and what sort of program (mac or pc) would recognize the import?

If anyone can answer my question I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

It looks to me like you would have to use the 1/4" outs and feed them into your soundcard and record the playback. I didn't see any other way to transfer it. Now then keep in mind that I don't know anything about this unit other than the 2 second read I did on the Korg site.

Any recording type program would record the playback. Garageband on a mac, or there's several free ones for PC: reaper (mac as well), kristal, audacity, mulab. Any of those will let you record the incoming signals.

You may need a cable converter, to connect from the 1/4" outputs (left & right) over to a 1/8" stereo jack, if you're going to plug into a basic soundcard. Most have the 1/8" jacks. Line In will be stereo (left & right).

Recording type cards will mostly have 1/4" jacks for input, plus some have XLR inputs, which you won't need unless you record a microphone. They usually start around 100$.

Like BeerHunter says, connect the cables, press RECORD on the PC, and PLAY on the EM1.

Yes, the EM-1 did not have the option of having its sounds loaded or unloaded via USB or the like. The only way to get them out is to play them into a recording software or what have you.

You can compare them both at these links. It would take me an hour to write up the differences.

EA-1

EA-1 mkII

They are both pretty cool. The MkII just has some updated goodies and sounds.
