12" PA Speakers as monitors

I was recently given some old 12" PA Speakers. They work and they are your typical rectangle-cubed enclosures. Would I get the same result using these as stage monitors if I angle them on their sides and on the floor at a 45degree angle, like a normal Monitor is designed to do??

I don't see why not. You may find you need some tweets if it doesn't already have 'em, but that's a matter of personal taste I guess.

EDIT: question: Are they ported?

It's not really important, (no pun intended) but do they have air ports on them, or are they a sealed box?

Sealed box.

What you have is fine to use as a monitor. We have done so for years. My only suggestion would be to make it bi-amp. Since it was a FOH speaker, the horn will be set a little strong for fold back. Unless, it has a attinuator on it to begin with.
