Black Screen

Hi, I just got a Firestudio from Presonus, and it comes with Cubase LE4. I've installed the program and fired up the licenses in order for it to work. Now, everytime I open Cubase, it loads it parameters and then the screen goes black. Then, I can't do ****, and I have to restart the computer. It's not frozen, it's just that I don't see anything. I think the computer changes his display format but again, I am not sure about this. Thanks a lot!

For starters, make sure your OS, video card drivers, Cubase and the audio device...

I would check 3 things first... Drivers, software updates, and drivers.

Unlikely...
Are you on a widescreen monitor using WS resolutions? I have only had this problem with games but would at least try setting a standard resolution just to test it.

Yep, I am wondering the same thing. First off video drivers are current. Then make sure the audio device is not conflicting with the audio device. Being that it is firewire it shouldn't be happening but it is a possibility.

Then as stated make sure cubase is not trying to reset the video res. As with Tripps, I've seen the same thing happen on my wide screen's. An application will try to set its own resolution and the video cards driver tries to over ride it and you will get a video card crash. The OS is still operational but the screen goes blank.

I don't think cubase would do this but it is something to check.

Are you using a Mac? Does it have Leopard? I have heard a few reports of this with several pieces of software on Leopard.
