Dec 24, 2007 04:11 pm yeah we've been playing with this for a little while, and it's pretty cool. Definitely something to install.

Dec 24, 2007 09:01 pm Ya know, I hate toolbars, but this one actually seems really useful. I do believe I'll not uninstall this one! :)
Good Call dB Man! Looks like it's a Milwaukee's Best for you this Christmas slugger.
Dec 24, 2007 10:17 pm I am not a big fan of toolbars either, actually, but people wanted a chatroom, it's a way to keep current on content with the RSS feeds, so I figured it's at least an option I can provide...I looked for spyware and such and didn't find any so it seemed safe and useful for some anyway.
Glad a few people like it. :-)

Dec 24, 2007 11:02 pm Yep, I've had been running it for a few weeks in ginny pig mode and nothing add with it for me. I'm not a big toolbar fan but it had a few things as well as the chat I found cool so its staying installed here as well. I like the little net radio part as well. I don't have to have a browser player open to play my favorite radio station.

Dec 25, 2007 12:36 pm Sweet, Firefox just updated the HRC toolbar to 1.5.28.0, nicely done.
Dec 25, 2007 02:49 pm Sounds like a winner, any plans for a mac version. If not I have a laptop I can load it on.

Dec 25, 2007 07:37 pm Bluesdues, they make Firefox for the Mac as well, OS-X is here.
www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
The toolbar will work in Firefox just dandy. A lot of us have been using Firefox on Windows for years since IE sucks as a web browser.
Dec 25, 2007 07:39 pm Is the toolbar supposed to work on Mac OS X? It doesn't seem like it...

Dec 25, 2007 07:40 pm Jim, See the link above.
Dec 25, 2007 07:43 pm Damn, I hate it when I'm wrong!! I followed the link above, but it says that the System Requirements are for Windows XP/Vista, etc. I had always assumed that this meant that it wouldn't work on a Mac, so I never tried it.
So I just tried it, and I'll be damned...it worked!!
Bluesdues, there's your answer!
Thanks Noize!
Dec 25, 2007 08:30 pm Ditto, to Guitar Jim's reply. I saw the system requirements and figured that it counted me out. I've been using firefox for a while now so I was hoping it would work. Well, its working. Thanks

Dec 25, 2007 09:02 pm It works just peachy with my firefox. :)
As for the chat option;
Ya know, we could always lobby Yahoo! or MSN to give us a chatroom. I know a couple people at Yahoo!, I'll see if I can get the ball rolling.

Dec 26, 2007 08:24 am I could set up an IRC channel for chat as well...had considered that in the past, but I simply don't know IRC well enough as far as administration goes so I never did set it up.

Dec 26, 2007 08:28 am IRC brings back memories...
most of them less than good.
Really though, I'd say wait and see the current chat room get used more before you focus on any improvements to it. We've done this expiriment before, and in the past the chat feature didn't get much use, so why make it more trouble than it needs to be?
Dec 26, 2007 09:13 am Yeah, a chatroom will never be a focus of mine until traffic at least doubles from what it is now. I just found this rather easy way to add one so I figgered, what the hell.

i know, i know. db had said the 'staff members' had been playing around with his toolbar though.

Jan 05, 2008 11:39 pm Eh, admins: How do I uninstall this toolbar? It doesn't show up in my list of programs. Title of file, please.

Jan 06, 2008 12:31 am Why would you want to do that Herb. Its a nice toolbar. It didn't do anything to deserve this.
Anyway, if your using Firefox, which you should be. Simply go to Tools, Add Ons and then you will see it there.
If your not using Firefox I don't know or care were IE has there options for pluggins but that is probably were it is. It has an uninstall button there.
but if you do that we wont see you in the chat room.
Jan 06, 2008 12:51 am I'm using Mozilla of course. Tools\add-ons\duh.
Not that I wanted to get rid of it. Just a little suspicious of programs that don't show up as such.
Does anyone use the chat room? The HRC Skype thing lasted about 20 minutes.

Jan 06, 2008 01:22 am Ya know, I use that toolbar everyday, and I've always hated toolbars. The only down side I can see is that every time I go into the 'chatroom' there's nobody in there.... I guess it's only a problem 'cause when I go in there it's because I'm lonely, but bah. :-P
Maybe I should throw my yahoo chat name out, lol

Jan 06, 2008 06:16 pm Ya, good toolbars are always pluggins.
Herb, I got a little distracted during the Skype thing. I'm still going to get it set up here. I think you and Bleak and I should have a conference call, that would be amusing. Get flame and dB in there as well.
I need to clone my OS drive first though as I'm down to about 350 meg on it and its kind of slowing down.
But the toolbar, ya I have it set up with what I want now and it works great for me. The little radio thingy is great and I keep a WMP button on it as well. Not sure I need the email notifier though as that is the one and only system sound I have on is the email bink sound.
The chat room, I go in there probly every other day to check. I think everyone runs away when I come in there. :-(
I'm still up for having an HRC chat night with simply picking a subject to discuss and everyone dropping in to give their 2 cents worth.
Jun 24, 2008 02:25 pm what is this search box in the toolbar? i don't want it remembering my searches ('where' are they remembered?) and holding my copied text where it can be visible to others. is there some way to shut it off?
i am lovin' the weather feature. best one i've used, i think. tiny, accurate, easy to change locations, and always right there, with forecasts...
Jun 24, 2008 02:57 pm Yeah, I just noticed that filling highlighted text thing myself, annoying...I'm gonna mention that to them
Jun 24, 2008 09:42 pm forty
click on the arrow next to the HRC logo, at the bottom is "toolbar options" -> "additional setting" and uncheck the "enable select to search box" option.

Jun 24, 2008 10:08 pm You can turn them off in the options menu. There is a tick box for turning of the send highlighted text to the search box and the other can turn off the highlighter on the right hand side.

Didn't see that dB already replied.
Jun 25, 2008 04:41 pm thanks, didn't see that there.
anyone use the email updater? that seems like it could be unsafe?

Jun 25, 2008 09:19 pm No I haven't. I looked at it but since my email is always open and checks once a minute I don't really need it.
Jun 26, 2008 08:57 am I don't use that, I always have my email open in a background tab in my browser so the title in the tab will tell me if I have new mail, so I don't need no stinkin' notifier.
Oct 11, 2008 12:09 am no matter what i do, the search terms i enter on google always appear in the search field of the toolbar.
i did what was suggested and there's now nothing checked in my options at all
?
Oct 11, 2008 05:15 am oh, yeah, when you search it shows up there, the original problem is when anything was even highlighted it showed up there...I only got that to stop happening, the search, well, big deal...or, it's no big deal to me anyway...
Oct 11, 2008 08:37 am yeah, i hear ya. only thing is, your last search remains visible to all
not a good feature. :(
love the rest of the toolbar, though!
Oct 11, 2008 09:05 am not once you close the browser...

Oct 29, 2008 08:59 pm Pretty impressive. I don't like those toolbars but I have this one. But are people chatting?
Oct 29, 2008 09:16 pm yeah, we have some chats occasionally...but chatting has always been one of those features that the members always ask for, I give it to them, and they don't use it much...I've been around that block like 3 times with HRC.
