Hi All !!
I have an Alesis Multimix 8 fx and after blowing up 2 power units it was left on the shelf. After finding it again recently I decided to just make my own power supply. So here's my question... does anybody know the pin assignment for the three pin power supply socket on the back of the unit, and is it easy enough to make a power supply??

Much appreciated - Cheers !!!

Welcome to HRC.

Well I didn't see a listing for that exact model. But here is the link to the Alesis support downloads page. Manuals and all that. www.alesis.com/index.php?id=56,30,0,0,1,0 I am guessing the pin call out should be in there. But if not you might want to contact Alesis and see if they can give it to you. Explain your situation and they may be willing to help you out.

But most 3 pin supplies like that are a simple set up of Power, Power Common and a shield or drain wire. Color codes vary so I wouldn't know what to tell you there. Most common PSU color code would be Power=red, Power Common=black or white and drain/shield is either going to be clear or possibly no jacket.

Hi Overkill
Thanks for the welcome to HRC and the reply!
I checked the all the Alesis manuals in the pdf list for a pin out diagram with no joy ... i did ask alesis at the time, but maybe i will get a better response this time with it being nearer Christmas!
Wish i'd kept the original power units now ....... or i've put them somewhere "safe" as usual which means i'll never find them!!

If I come across something on them I'll put it up here. Post back if you find an answer before one of us does.

And ya, I figured it might no be in the manual, but it was worth a shot.

I think Behringer is probably the only one that puts that kind of stuff in the manual directly.

Phil,
Did you get your power supply problem resolved?

I have a Multimix 16 which went BANG!!! this afternoon with only 1 mic plugged in to channel 1; thought someone shot me.

Anyway on my power supply it is:
120VAC input
with 2- 18VAC output at 1000ma
(notice it is AC output not DC)

I measure as follows:
pin 2 to 1 = ~20Vac
pin 2 to 3 = ~20Vac
pin 3 to 1 = ~40Vac

without taking the power supply appart it appears that it is just a transformer with the power regulation done inside the mixer.

I did find the source of the BANG!! A capacitor inside the mixer blew up; not sure why yet. If anyone has had a similar issue let me know. I am going to replace the cap and see what happens; hopefully it is just a bad cap and nothing more major.

-Steve
