Hi all,
I have loved my EMU 1820m interface for a long time. Now, however, it's time for a computer upgrade, and PCI is hard to come by anymore. I am also now a MAC user mostly, but I've been using my PC for a while so that I could keep using my 1820m.
My question is this: Is there any way for me to use the EMU 1820m without the PCI card? Can I power it some other way, and can I connect it to another interface so that I can still use the I/O from it? The converters are so nice, I'd hate to have to ditch it completely when I switch to a new iMAC.
Thanks,
Jason

Dec 12, 2007 12:59 pm Mac does not have PCI drivers for your card?
I assume the iMac is limited on upgrade slots although.
Dec 12, 2007 01:52 pm if you want PCI, you gotta get a mac pro.
Apple jerkfaces...

Dec 12, 2007 02:33 pm Yes, you guys are correct, the only way to get a PCI slot in an Apple product is to pay the $2200 minimum for Mac tower. And that's with no monitor.
So I have to switch interfaces. So what I'm asking is, is there any way to slave the 1820m from something else, so that I can still use it?

Dec 12, 2007 04:02 pm Doubt it seriously, you are gonna be looking at a firewire or usb solution is my guess.
Dec 12, 2007 08:28 pm Yea, I'm looking at the Mackie 400f, but it's a sad day to give up the great A/D and D/As on the EMU.
