Just out of curiosity I was looking at vocal effects and not very many things came up...a DigiTech thing that looks kinda cheapo and some TC Helicon things.

TC Helicon makes two different boxes:
- TC Helicon VoiceTone Create Vocal Pedal
- TC Helicon VoiceTone Correct Vocal Pedal

The Create one looks very useful but the Correct does not. Change my mind please.

If there are any other ways to get vocal effects please let me know. Thanks.

Both of those Helion units are pretty cool, but I've personally always liked Digitechs pedals. It's true, they're not meant to be stomped on, but they're pretty sturdy. Compare the Helion Create VP and the Digitech Vocal 300 VP side by side and see which one might work better for ya.

The biggest question I have is:

Why would someone ever need the TC Helicon Correct??
I understand having the DigiTech or TC Helicon Create but I just don't understand why the Correct would be necessary.

I you opinion why is the DigiTech better?

I would use the Correct in a live situation and the Create when doing recordings personally.

From Harmony Central

VoiceTone Create is a studio quality multi-effects pedal for voice that includes 99 preset combinations of reverb, tap tempo delay, thickening/microtuning, distortion and even telephone/megaphone effects to inspire creativity. The straightforward controls, A/B effects switching and simple radio button preset selections are easy for singers to use while performing. The fully produced vocal mix can be selected by effect type or music genre to facilitate creative operation.

VoiceTone Correct combines pitch correction with adaptive tone and dynamic shaping in a single pedal. Effects include auto-chromatic pitch correction, an adjustable auto-smooth compression, de-essing and multiband auto-shape EQ to dynamically sweeten raw mic sounds.

Does this "pitch correction" really do alot of good? And does the shaping really make alot of difference?

better off using plugins for this unless you want to use them live....vocal multi-effects processors (with exception of a few rack units) are mostly used for live applications....

compression, eq, reverb/delay, and maby pitch correction are all ya really need to get a good solid vocal sound.....

My band (myspace.com/ourhouseisgod) uses Apple Logic 7 and Antares' rack unit AVP-1. It's a mic modeler and an autotuner and vocal processor.
If you can't afford/find one, the Antares ATR-1 is a cheaper alternate, just minus the mic modeler.
I'd highly suggest either of the two.
If you're software based, Antares' Autotune comes in software format too.
