Hey guys. I just recorded snipets of some of my stuff to test my recording rig and settings. It's about a minute long. I'd appreciate some feedback since I'm pretty inexperienced at this whole recording deal ;-)

Here's the link to it:

Thanks!

Nice finger work! Sounds like your micing an acoustic. Perhaps a little more presence would do the trick. I'm kinda new to PC recording myself but have produced on numerous occasions. It's not a fair test of your setup to record a single instrument. They key is laying multiple tracks and blending them together. When you conquer this, you're a master. I hope I'm on my way.

Keep it up!

Thanks for tips Skip! The thing is, I'm looking to produce an album of instrumental tracks. All acoustic finger picking arrangements. So really I'm trying to make just the guitar sound as nice and full as possible. Kind of like Don Ross stuff if you ever heard him. I'm far from being as good as him and probably don't have the recording equipment he used, but I think I should be able to produce a decent CD of my stuff...Anyone else has any comments? Thanks!

Wow, sounds like you have three good songs there lined up. Is that your Ovation miked with the Audio Technica? Sounds great! I was wondering what effects processing you used to get that sound? Is it just dry with some EQing on the mixer? Great tone, superb playing. Be sure and let us know when you get some tracks down -jamie

I think it sounds great. Nice and full. I would certainly think that you have what you need to do a CD of solo acoustic stuff. I'll look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks so much for all the nice feedback! To answer your question Jamie, there are no effects on that track. I haven't had time to experiment that way yet. I actually mic my ovation with the audio technica and from the built-in pickup as well. It took some fine tuning but I think the sound is pretty good now. I recorded a demo CD with only my Audio Technica but it sounded boomy and kinda flat. The stereo effect is much nicer now I think, but I have to re-record everything :-( I will be sure to post some new songs. Cheers!

Yes Mat, Very clean! Good ring on the strings and still full in lower regions!

Great Job!
