Konnekt min. system requirements?

really wanted to get a Konnekt 8, but their website says minimum req. for a Mac is "1Ghz" processor -- anyone successfully using one with a "lesser" system? Have an older G4 [Digital Audio] w/ Dual 533s... Will this really not work & I'll have to get a Presonus Firebox or Echo AudioFire4 instead?

I guess I would say to contact TC Electronics Tech Support and see what they say. A dual set up would be giving you a similar approximate speed so I would think you might be OK as long as the OS meets minimum requirements.

Thx - tried that, but the reply I got basically just said "well, if that's what the site says - then that's the minimum" [not like he knew definitively at all]... Guess I'll have to choose PreSonus or Echo to be safe. The Firebox "MIDI" input is a single port tho, not the regular MIDI I/O dual ports like the AudioFire4 & most other units seem to have.

It has the same two midi ports as the Audiofire4 does. The only difference is it does it with a break out cable which contains both the midi in and out connections as well as the s/pdif connections. Kind of a cheapo way to do it these days, but it may save them some space on the box as well.

But it is the same thing, just not built into the box.

Beware of the old G3/G4 Dual 533- A portion of them we're made by Motorola and they don't live up to their benchmark, so I'm a bit skeptical that you'll get the performance you need to run the Konnekt 8. Going another route might be a better option than the hassle of trial and error.
