Hey all,

We are working on a new tune. This song is written about homelessness in Vancouver. This is still in the really early stages so the mix etc is nowhere near complete. Its a really different song for us.

Concrete Pillow

<Intro>
<verse 1>
I’m just one of the few that you once knew, got someone else’s clothes and my shoes are full of holes,

There’s another world going on around me, people won’t slow down they won’t even speak to me,

My best friend sleeps in back of Pigeon Park, the guy across the street makes his living selling speed,

Paper planes, steaming drains, band posters on my walls, blue bin in my backyard, loud horn is my alarm,
<pre-chorus1>
<chorus 1>
The lines on my face,
My cart is back at my safe place,
All I have is my cold blistered feet,
Gonna settle down with a - concrete pillow

<verse 2>
Always know what time it is I got my own steamclock, piece of string, an old magazine in my back pocket

An afternoon of chasing nothing, scored a loonie not enough, time to find my way to the Mission, then I’m missin’

I look up at all the people goin’ to the game, got my hat out pushed around called some really bad names

Time to roll on down to my friend’s in the underground, going to swap out some of my latest things,
<pre-chorus 2>
<chorus 2>

The lines on my face,
My cart is back at my safe place,
All I have is at my cold blistered feet,
Gonna settle down with a - concrete pillow

<solo>

<verse 3>

Time to make the rounds to collect some pop cans, squeegee man gets ripped off , Syd is in handcuffs,

Take this gift from me, and know how it feels, her written message reads “for some this is a meal”.

Take a glance of my dark world, see the glare off my chair, find me a comb for my hair, lost mine over there,

Recent roundup trying to take my home away, I got to see a saint amongst us was the only bright part of my day

<bridge>
“During the 1990’s homelessness emerged as a major issue in communities across Canada. In Greater Vancouver, homelessness continues to be a complex and growing problem”
“Vancouver's homeless population is growing at such a fearsome rate that it could triple to 3,000 people by the time visitors arrive for the 2010 Olympic Games”

<chorus 2>

The lines on my face,
My cart is back at my safe place,
All I have is at my cold blistered feet,
Gonna settle down with a - concrete pillow

<solo outro>
<Fade>

The song is in my profile.
Cheers!

Had a quick listen. Kind of different but staying true to the sound you have. Lots of things going on, had to listen kind of quiet though. Tomorrow I'll give a better listen. But liked the tune for sure. Again, nice straight forward and rockin.

Hey noise, thanks for checking it out. This song really is a stretch for us. The musical challenge opened up our minds a bit and got us exploring new techniques.

This song though is more about the message than the music. It was inspired by a lady that was handing out pieces of toast on the streets of Vancouver that had "for some this is a meal" printed on it. I was impressed by her dedication to the problem and decided to write a song about it. This is how the whole homelessness idea came about.

I'm sure that many cities around the world have a big problem with homelessness as well. One of the problems here is that the building and cleanup for the 2010 Olympics is forcing a lot of people that had housing out into the streets.

The song that I uploaded is only partially complete but essentially it only requires a 3rd verse and a bridge section.

Ya, I am going to have to give it another listen. But I can already here the good structure in there. It doesn't really sound as though you guys (and girl) are stretching to get there with it though.

But ya, the homeless thing really hits home around here this time of year. Lots of kids, some that are there by choice from addiction or just plain ignorance. But many or most are there for a reason uncontrolled by them. Ya, I used to say git a job but now I have to rethink how I felt back then. There are some that just don't know any other way or really don't have a choice. And with the kids you can see it in their eyes when they are in trouble and know it.

I donate a hell of a lot of money to a lot of worthy causes, especially this time of year. The boyz and I give tons of time both with the scouts and on our own. And man, when we do this Santa's helpers thing for the kids it really rips me up. Seeing these kids just giddy with being able to buy their mom or dad or brother,sister gandma or grandpa something for Xmas. It is just kind of cheapy stuff, but for the kids it is the most valuable thing in the world. I've played Santa for the last 4 years and man what a rush. There have been times that I had to turn away and wipe a tear.

Anyway, good on you guys for doing this. And I can't wait to hear it as it progresses.
