Ya know, the site itself is pretty cool, but on a technical side, are you aware that on every single page (that I looked at, the titlebar says "Boomers Music - Your Craviotto Drum Source!" and so does the meta description tag?

What you may not realize is that those two pieces are a couple of very heavily weighted pieces of info for search engine rankings. Even on the bass amplifier page it says "Boomers Music - Your Craviotto Drum Source!".

You should make those pages have content-sensitive titles. "Bass Guitar Amplifiers at Boomers Music", "Drum Sticks at Boomers Music", etc. I have seen rankings improve dramatically on some sites with ONLY that type of change.

topHeader.gif partially falls behind the tabs -Firefox 2.0.0.8, UbuntuStudio

but as far as improving the store... I saw a picture with a Sabian B8 cymbal... I really hate those things... :)

Plus, depending on competition I'd suggest looking at provideo and theater... even if it's just offered as special order... In columbus there's only one store I can go to to get gels for lights... and if I need a heavy duty tripod I HAVE to order it online...

other than that... make sure all of the current categories have something in them for sale...

I had the same problem as zek with the header; might just be a firefox thing.

Cool site though :)

It looks like you tried to cram all of that meta information into the alternate text for the main pictures (sale items, lessons). Personally I've never liked seeing thosee stream-of-conscience word association strings of nonsense, even when it only appears in a mouse-over popup bubble.

You can add that to the meta tag instead like dB says and kill two birds with one stone (no more Jack Kerouac prose in the mouse-over popup, and more visibility on search engines).

Its a nice site though, even though there isn't much inventory on there yet. Just because I'm over-caffinated (yay for triple-shot cappucinos!) I'll offer some layman's suggestions as I browse:

- In the product descriptions, I'd put the list price with the retail and sale prices instead of in the product description itself. List Price: $$$ \n MSRP: $$$ \n Our price: $$$

- I'd arrange the shopping tabs by popularity from left to right: Guitars and related stuff, then Basses and related stuff, then Drums and related stuff, then everythig else. That seems to be the way that most online retailers are organized, as well as the catalogs.

- I love the visible shopping cart and most popular items on the right-hand side. Although I'd make it a top-10 most popular instead of a top-3.

- definitely make the Boomer's Music logo a hotlink back to the main page.

- A little sales pitch for each item would be nice on the product description page instead of the rather sterile list of product specs.

- When I view guitars, the upright orientation of the pictures makes them take up a lot of real estate. Maybe put them horizontally or make the page's text begin next to the picture instead of below it. It just makes for a lot of whitespace on the product description page.

Anyways, I'm no web design pro. But I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Ya, it is a Firefox thing. It looked fine in IE.

Is your mom and dad doing the webs site themselves or having someone do it for them?

Other than the header and the current lack of content, I dont see anything wrong with it :)

What script is that? phpShop or something like that? I mean, it's obviously not a home-brewed shopping cart, I'd be curious to know which it is, cuz it's pretty cool despite a few apparent limitation, which most do have.
