To those of you that've helped me navigate my new DAW and various software issues, thank you.
I've posted a little mix on my profile which basically stands as a long winded tutorial for me so I can learn my new software and what have you. If you've got a second, or speakers for that matter (whosyourdaddy, lol) I'd appreciate any critiques or advice. Thanks again :)

Nov 02, 2007 01:17 pm Sounds nice. I think the bass that follows the piano (or is it just the piano) might be just a little tad too strong, but I kinda sounds good too, so I'm not really sure. Otherwise sounds good. I want some drums, and vocals, stat.

Nov 02, 2007 04:19 pm sounds good... the bass part is a bit strong... I think thats a piano... I'd try bumping it up an octave and supplementing it with maybe a cello sample...
definitely something I could see used in a movie... good job!

Nov 02, 2007 05:28 pm Ya, I kinda like the real forward sound of the bass myself. That is the nature sometimes of a sampled bass patche though. They can be very present in the mix. I loved the strings and piano as well. Interesting piece for sure. Makes me want to hear more of it.

Nov 02, 2007 05:49 pm Thanks for the feedback; I'm sure once I get the vocal and the acoustic in there the bass will be a little more transparent, but I wanted it to have a little punch to it. As for drums, I'm stuck. Drums are my downfall; I'm horrible at arranging them. If anyone has any pattern ideas, by all means, download it and play around with it. I need all the help I can get in that respect. And thanks for your input :)

Nov 03, 2007 01:33 am Zekthedeadcow, there is a cello track in the mix, it's just cleverly disguised; it also adds to the strong bass you hear in the "chorus" section.
I'm at a stand still. Anyone have an old USB interface I can borrow indefinitely? I'm itching to get this done!!

Nov 03, 2007 03:04 am Thanks Herb. A bit dramatic, but I'll take it, lol. It's got a long way to go, but I think it to be a rather mighty step in the right direction... at least I made it into your english film :D

Nov 03, 2007 08:26 pm Hey Keith, you have to enable the download if you want anyone to mess about with the drums on it. I will listen again and see if it is anything up my alley for drums.

Nov 06, 2007 02:07 am Ok, you can download it now. Keep in mind that it still has guitar and vocals left though. I'm going to play with the levels alot once I get it all recorded so I can get the right feel from it. Drum ideas would be amazing though. I'm clueless. Thanks for your honesty everyone.

Herb, you seem to find the best of those little gif's. I'm truly jealous.
