tony romo

so that game tonight ranks among one of the coolest i've ever seen. i acidentally kicked myself in the crotch at one point. and i don't even like either team. unbelievable drama.

but what's with this whole putting romo on a pedestal thing? either he played one of the worst games i've ever seen, or buffalo suddenly and strangely played one of the best. and yet, even before the night was over sportscasters were--iunbelIEVEABLY--on his side. i found this quote about an hour after the game:

www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21201288/page/2/
"It’s what legends are made of. They get hit in the mouth and they either run and hide or they fight back. Romo got hit in the mouth time after time Monday night, but at the end, he was still standing. And grinning."

what the heck? how can anyone say that with a straight face? are they trying to fabricate a hero? i watched this game specifically to see what all the hype was, but now i'm going to have to watch a few more in order to tell if the hype is deserved or not. anyone can have a bad night i suppose, but i have this feeling about romo, this sense that something is being 'constructed,' perhaps undeservedly.

statistics and numbers are one thing. but so far to me he does not have the bearing or consistency of a high caliber qb from what i have seen.

Well, from the sounds of it he had a HORRIBLE game. However, the thing with him was that he was a second stringer a couple seasons ago, somebody got injured, he stepped up and kicked butt. Still a little green perhaps, and everybody has a bad game now and then, but on the whole his numbers are pretty darn good.

Romo is also a cool guy. Reporters were telling him after this season he'll be making the big bucks and they asked him how he felt about it and he said something along the lines of "well, my buddies all make 40k a year, I think it's goofy I make this much".

Now that is cool.

I like Tony Romo...and I hate the Dallas Cowboys...but he makes that a little harder all the time.

Of course, it goes without saying that Romo is a fellow cheesehead!

Romo plays the most important position on the country's most popular team. And he's the first QB they've had since Aikman to perform as well as he has (which isn't saying much considering the QBs they've had since then). Plus he's charismatic, a little cocky, and relatively skilled on the field. So he gets to become this year's media darling.

may i remind you, he threw five interceptions. but he's a 'legend,' somehow.

I remember games that Favre threw just as many picks, doesn't make him any less legendary...
